Yoga The Elixir Of Life

Yoga has become a universally known word today. People from all over the world are familiar with the Yoga exercises. Though Yoga originated in India, today it is better known and practiced in the western world. Actually speaking the word ‘Yoga’ refers to the union of the body and the mind. However to the followers of yoga, it is but a way of life.

Yoga comprises of various asanas or exercises and mudras or postures. Coupled with the physical exercises, it also involves Pranayama or breath control. The philosophy behind Yoga is much higher than just the physical exercises. Yoga has its roots in understanding the man in totality. Yoga when understood and imbibed, can lead one to self realization. The philosophy gives us an understanding of ourselves. Those who are not aware of Yoga may find it to be just a physical exercising system. But Yoga takes one beyond the physical and teaches him to explore his astral and spiritual self. It gives one the understanding that every being is a soul and not the body. The system every soul is but a reflection of the spirit which has descended into the physical body in the form of consciousness.

Many teachers of yoga promote Yoga for the sake of deriving physical benefits, especially to reduce weight and gain flexibility of the body. Beyond this, yoga teaches one to concentrate and gain control over the mind as well as understand the connection between our soul and the body. The body is made up of five elements including earth, water, fire, air and ether. The physical body is enlivened with the help of cosmic life force that exists in the body in the form of different types of currents each specializing in different activities. These currents are known as ‘Prana’ or Life force. Each specific prana controls functions like Digestion, Assimilation, Circulation, Elimination etc.

Going into the depths of Yoga will also teach us that human body is comprising of seven energy centers situated in the spinal plexus. We draw the cosmic energy from the medulla oblongata and the energy is further disseminated through the seven energy centers. It is this energy that enlivens the regeneration organs and powers the sexual drive in man.

Problems like male impotence can be easily cured with the help of Yoga. Male impotence refers largely to erectile dysfunction or low sperm count. Erectile dysfunction can be the result of any physical injury or disfigurement or due to psychological distress. The yoga system understands the connection between the mind and the body. When the mind faces any extreme trauma and suffers, the resultant distress causes blockage of the energy or the prana to the physical body part, causing erectile dysfunction. Specific exercises and diet help remove the blockage of the energy and cure the problem. Yoga lays emphasize on healthy living and Yoga exercises as primary requisites to ensure the right sexual drive and energy as well as the quality of sperm.

Any kind of physical problem is a manifestation of the psychological problem or emotional problem. All of these problems other than the problems arising out of any physical injury etc can be easily cured naturally and permanently with the help of Yoga.
